A conference celebrating the Year of the Planters in Cobequid is set for June 11 at the Marigold Cultural Centre.
“It’s billed as ‘Stanfield’s: Knit into the Fabric of Colchester’ and it features photos, newspaper articles and historic accounts of Stanfield’s Limited, the well-known company with roots in Truro extending to the 1850s.”
Join us January 28th for a public talk and hands-on workshop with costume and textile specialist Bonnie Elliott. This program will offer a look at clothing worn in Cobequid during the period 1761 – 1780 and practical assistance on recreating Planter clothing.
A two-day conference in June, a historic re-enactment in July and a full year of dress up are in store for many Colchester County residents as they celebrate the Year of the Planters in Cobequid (1761-2011).
