Five awards will be presented by the Colchester Historical Society on Thursday, February 24, at the Heritage Night Celebration. Doors open at the Museum on 29 Young Street at 7 pm for an open house amid the current Stanfield exhibit.
The recipients of this year’s awards are:
- George Nye for his genealogy The McLane Family of Nova Scotia
- Lyle Carter for his newspaper column which features stories of local history
- Spencer Hutchinson for his many volunteer hours spent researching the families of the North Shore
- Kerry Lynch of Urban Renewable for his efforts to preserve local built heritage.
The Town of Truro will also present a built heritage award to Ron Meech and Gar Moffat for their adaptive reuse of the former Willow Street School. This annual event is the local celebration of Heritage Day which is marked nationally on February 21. All are invited to attend the celebrations at the Museum on February 24 at 7pm.
