After a few busy weeks of installations and renovations, the Historeum will be open for regular hours (10am-12pm/1pm-4pm) starting Tuesday, October 20. The Office and the Archives will be open for business! The main exhibit hall is still a work in progress, but you are welcome to come in and take a “sneak peak” at our exciting updates!
Jill Martin Boutellier, a Lunenburg based retired educator and author will present an illustrated talk, “Return to Sable.” Jill’s great-grandfather was Superintendent of Life Saving on Sable Island from 1880 to 1913.
We will be opening our new exhibit: “How Colchester Women Helped Win the War: 1939- 1945” on Saturday, October 24 at 2pm.
With the world at war, all the rules changed. Most of the young men were in the military and women were expected to take on unusual roles. This exhibit it dedicated to the brave and resourceful women in Colchester who stepped up and contributed to the war effort in many ways during the years 1939 to 1945.
Author Andria Hill-Lehr will give a presentation on the life of Wolfville native Mona Parsons. Mona was imprisoned by the Nazis during WWII for helping Allied airmen evade capture. Join us to hear her exciting story!
Frank Cameron, much loved TV personality and author of I Owe It All To Rock and Roll (and the CBC), will speak on Truro in the 1950s. Frank will reflect on his days at CKCL, Rocky Jones, his career refereeing hockey and other asides.
