During our school years if we were fortunate we had a teacher that inspired us, made us care about what we were learning and made a difference in our life – leaving a lasting impression on us forever. Wayne Foster was one of those teachers. Wayne was passionate about history and shared that enthusiasm with his students. Wayne’s passing on February 26, 2014 at age 74 left a void in the lives of everyone he knew.
Wayne was an instrumental figure in The Colchester Historical Museum (now the Colchester Historeum.) It was an important part of his life. Before Wayne’s passing the Historeum was undergoing many exciting changes which will benefit Colchester County – changes Wayne was involved with and would have been proud to see become reality.
We would like to honor Wayne for how he enriched the lives of his students, his community and friends. Since the Colchester Historeum was near and dear to Wayne’s heart we are “friend/fundraising” a tribute to this wonderful man. We are calling it “A Window for Wayne.” Our newly renovated gallery has seven windows. We thought it only fitting one be in remembrance of Wayne. All contributions, big or small are appreciated. An engraved plaque will be displayed in the renovated gallery.
We are hoping if you knew Wayne, were taught or inspired by him, you may like to be a part of this exciting tribute to a man who made such a difference in the lives of so many people.
“I am encouraging you to donate now to our capital Fostering History campaign. We are at those critical final moments of a project when decisions and cuts must be made according to what we have. Every donation is important when deciding what we can accomplish. I am extremely excited at how the future looks for the Colchester Historeum.” – Beth Johnston, Committee Chair
